Big fat brushes can be difficult to control and make it easy to put on too much product. Apply powder bronzer with a smaller brush, tapping off the excess first. Cream or liquid bronzer should be applied with a sponge or your fingers and blended out.
Apply bronzer only where your face would naturally catch the sun – along the forehead, nose bridge, chin, and cheekbones. Lightly apply bronzer in the middle of the cheek and blend it out toward the hairline in one direction and toward the nose in the other, making sure you soften the edges well.
There’s nothing worse than a bronzed face with a white neck and décolletage, so apply a light dusting of bronzer to the collarbone and the column of the neck. When using bronzer to add warmth and shape to the face, apply it in the hollow of the cheekbones and on the temples.
Tip
You can still wear blush and highlighter with bronzer, but apply tone-on-tone colors with subtlety – a golden highlighter will work better than white or silver – based highlighter.
