I have oily skin that tends to be dry on the surface. This is a frustrating and contradictory problem that is common for women over the age of thirty. You want to prevent wrinkles by moisturizing but are afraid that it will cause breakouts. Most women end up drying out their skin to get rid of blemishes, causing it to become red and irritated. After much experimentation, this is what has helped my skin to improve dramatically. After my cleansing, I apply an alcohol-free toner with essential oils that help hydrate and soothe my skin. To prevent fine lines, I add a serum that is lightweight and noncomedogenic. Lavender, rosemary, and calendula are ingredients to look for in serums, which also help calm the skin and prevent breakouts. After serum, I apply a pea-size amount of water-based moisturizer. The key is not to apply too much of any one product; just a small amount of each will work much better.
